“Awards for All Wales” grant for local group
Beaumaris and Menai Bridge Camera Club have received a grant of £3,491 for the purchase of a laptop computer, digital projector, software and ancillary equipment from the lottery-funded grants programme “Awards for All Wales”.
National and international exhibitions now accept entries in digital form, which requires a digital projector for viewing. Many clubs are following the trend and this grant will enable Beaumaris and Menai Bridge Camera Club to do the same.
The members now have the opportunity to compete in the “projected images” section of competitions held by the club each month. The only equipment necessary for a member to have is a digital camera and a computer.
Resource material is almost universally distributed on CD or DVD . With the use of digital projection it is possible for competitions from national, international and photographic associations to be viewed ‘in house’ at club meetings, facilitating their showing to a greater audience.
Digital projectors provide an excellent medium for illustrated talks, demonstrations, use of software and tutorials.
Frank Barber the chairman of the digital committee is delighted at the award. He said, “the purchase of this digital projection equipment will enable BMBCC to respond to progress and not get left behind by the rapid development of digital imaging. The money will make a vast difference to photographers in the area. The process to obtain the grant was surprisingly easy and we had a quick response from ‘Awards for All Wales’. I would strongly recommend to any interested groups ‘The Award for All Wales’ grants programme.”
